15 March deadline for Aadhaar-linked LPG subsidy

Good news for the residents of Hyderabad is that the deadline for Aadhaar-linked LPG cylinder has been extended to 15 March 2013 from the earlier date of 15 February 2013. An official reported to say that people can now provide their Aadhaar number to the LPG cylinder distributors and the banks till 15 March. Earlier it was announced that people have to submit their Aadhaar details by 15 February in order to continue availing LPG subsidy directly into their bank accounts by linking it to with their Aadhaar number. After this announcement a mad rush was seen at the enrolment centres and news also came of clashes taking place at few camps.

  This implementation is to be done in accordance with the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme which the government has already launched from January 1 in many different districts of the country. N Kiran Kumar Reddy, chief minister, Andhra Pradesh also supported the extension of the deadline date earlier after observing the chaos at the camps. The scheme will now be implemented in 5 districts of the state from 15March viz. Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, East Godavari, Chittoor and Anantapur. Once this implementation occurs then the subsidy amount of the LPG cylinders will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries which will be linked with their 12-digit Aadhaar number. Another relief for the people is that if they have not received their Aadhar card yet then they can use the E-Aadhaar letter by downloading it from the website.

 Another clarification that was announced is that 15 March is not an ending day of enrolment and the enrolment process will continue even after 15 March. However, the member of the family on whose name the LPG connection is taken must undergo through the Aadhaar enrolment process in order to access subsidy benefits on the LPG cylinders. The other family members need not to take any panic because they can enrol themselves later on for UID.

Pension through DBT in all states by year end

Jairam Ramesh, Union Rural Development Minister, said that pension to the beneficiary under various schemes will be provided through the Aadhaar based direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme in all the states of the country. He said this implementation will be achieved before beginning of 2014. He added that a rise of 5.3 crore from the present 2.7 crore to 8 crore will be seen in the number of beneficiaries of various pension schemes like old-age, widow, disability, etc.

P Chidambaram, Finance Minister, said that banks have to play a crucial role in the successful implementation of the direct cash transfer scheme. He showed his belief that there will be an ATM installed at each of the bank branch of the public sector banks by 31^st March 2014. He also welcomed public sector insurance companies to setup their branches in towns and smaller cities as well.

25 new Aadhar card enrollment camps will be setup in the Mysore district of Andhra Pradesh. The population of Mysore is somewhat close to 2.9 million and from that about 2.6 million people have received their Aadhaar letters. This information was given by the Chief Executive Officer, Center for e-governance. The Aadhaar linked LPG subsidy is yet to be implemented through the DBT scheme in the district.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said people need not panic as February 15 is not the deadline for Aadhaar-linked LPG subsidy, even as a scramble for Aadhaar enrolment continued for the third day, particularly in Hyderabad and neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.

The Chief Minister conducted a high-level review meeting and directed officials to open additional 300 Aadhaar enrolment centres in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.

Services would also be provided in 60 Mee Seva centres in these two districts to address the 'lost card' and 'did not receive' cases.
                                
 Those who have already enrolled but not received the Aadhaar cards or those who have lost them need to apply afresh, a release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.

Supply of LPG cylinders at the subsidised price would continue till Aadhaar enrolment is completed in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Anantapur, Chittoor and East Godavari districts where the Direct Benefits

Transfer Scheme was being implemented on a pilot basis, the CMO said.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that of the total population of 8.5 crore to be covered in the state, 6.5 crore have already been enrolled and Aadhar cards have been generated for 5.3 crore people.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the entire process in the next four-five months.

Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew, Civil Supplies Commissioner Sunil Sharma and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Aadhaar Card

1. Take your documents of address and identity proof (original or photocopies attested by a gazetted officer) along with Aadhaar enrolment form and go to any nearby authorised Aadhaar enrolment centre or you can go to any of the enrolment camp authorised by UIDAI anywhere in India.
2. At the enrolment centre, there will be a document verification process done by the officials over there.
3. The enroller or operator will insert your details and will ask you to validate the data entry.
4. You will then be asked to undergo through a process of fingerprint and iris scanning.
5. After that your photograph will be taken.
6. The operator or enroller will then sign off with his fingerprint.
7. You will then receive a printed acknowledgement slip with an enrolment number and other details. This finishes your job as part of getting your Aadhaar number.

Your details will then be verified and after verification, a unique Aadhaar number only for you will be generated which will be dispatched to your address. After 60 to 90 days you will receive your Aadhaar number, however, this time may be longer depending upon the internal processing of the authority.Aadhaar Card
